Box Truss Table

Completed 2012

Acrylic stained and waxed birch plywood, found legs.

This table was built for Kirsten Gustafson, and acts as a prototype for a planned edition of tables.

Starting with the installation STATIONS, my work started to approach and encompass function as a formal consideration with space making. This ultimately led to a number of functional commissions at Bemis (dock and library) as well as a number of upcoming projects. This table is the latest iteration of a developing language of building that reinforces a connection with my ongoing studio process.

Detail showing simple through dado joints that allow for a “kit of parts” approach to constructing the box truss.
