In response to an invitation to define and address issues in a primarily suburban area, this conceptual proposal confronts the problems inherent with the rehabilitation of an aging strip mall.

As evidenced throughout our collaborative history, we focused on the inclusion of a public art dialog within the core of the design process. We combined new construction with the re-assembly of parts and pieces found throughout the site to arrive at a solution that could maintain the current ad-hoc accumulation of small businesses that inhabited the strip mall, and would resist a “high level” rehabilitation that would gentrify the area.
